The department of Genetics and Plant Breeding was functioning since 2016 as one of the major departments in Sri Krishnadevaraya College of Agricultural Sciences, Ananthapuramu. The department offers courses on Genetics and Plant Breeding, Seed Science & Technology and Biotechnology to undergraduate students in the field of agriculture. The main objective of the department is to impart basic knowledge to the students on various aspects of genetics, cytogenetics, plant breeding, biotechnology, seed technology and their contribution towards crop improvement.


Vision:

1. To teach undergraduate students so as to make manpower available in the field of Genetics and Plant breeding.

2. To improve technical and practical skills of students by allowing them to operate instruments in the lab and to practice emasculation and crossing techniques of major field and horticultural crops.

3. To update information to students regarding recent released varieties, research activities and significant accomplishments in genetics and plant breeding.

4. To transfer the agro-technologies and skills to the farmers.
